Anthems and Patriotic Songs

Canada also has a Royal Anthem ‘God Save the Queen’. The anthem originated as a patriotic song in London, England, in 1745, and it is performed officially in Canada in the presence of members of the Royal Family, and as part of the Salute accorded to the Governor General and Lieutenant Governors at all types of ceremonies and events.
Canada also has a rich history of other patriotic songs such as “The Ode to Newfoundland” and “Maple Leaf Forever” which preserve our heritage and history in song.
