At 25 years old, one has the vitality of youth and the experience needed to compete with the best.
This is why, as Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages, I wish to highlight the 25th anniversary of TV5MONDE.
Canada is a proud partner of TV5. This channel is a major achievement of the Francophonie. It radiates French language and culture—of which we are the heirs and ambassadors—around the world.
Through TV5, more than 180 million homes on the planet, including close to 7 million in Canada, can appreciate a cultural diversity beyond comparison, and can witness the full richness of the Francophonie.
On behalf of the Government of Canada and on behalf of Prime Minister Stephen Harper, I congratulate the TV5 team members who, for 25 years, have worked in front of and behind the camera to enable the French language to be heard loud and clear in the accents of Europe, Asia, Africa, and North America.
Congratulations, and I wish you many more years of success for TV5!
