The hands in my poster represent all the different people whose bravery, loyalty and sacrifice helped to build the beautiful, golden country that is Canada today.  The War of 1812 is an important milestone in Canada's history because if we had lost, Canada would not be what it is today.

The sun rose, the sails were hoisted and the fire burst out. Because of the honour of our heroes, today we look at our Canada with pride.

The War of 1812 was an important time in history for Canada. The war was fought by land and sea. In my poster I have two hands in the middle to represent how both sides came to an agreement to stop the war, the Treaty of Ghent.  Sir Isaac Brock, a British General, and Tecumseh, a native leader of the Shawnee, are pictured together as allies against the Americans.  Black people also played an important part in the war, on both sides.  I put in a picture the burning of the White House because most people do not realize that the British destroyed it during this war.  As well, I have put a picture of Laura Secord because she played a large role in stopping an attack against the British.  Canada may not have existed if it were not for all the brave people of different cultures coming together to fight for our land.

The War of 1812 changed Canada and that is why we still remember it.  My poster shows the different events during the war and also people who changed Canadian history. I have shown the First Nations fighting in alliance with British soldiers against the Americans. This war marked our border. I have shown Fort George and Lake Erie as well.

For my poster, I drew the famous people involved in the War of 1812, and famous architecture, battle scenes and historic places like Niagara Falls.  The Canada Flag symbolizes the country we live in today and how lucky we are.

My poster shows the heroes of the War of 1812: Sir Issac Brock, Tecumseh, Charles de Salaberry, Laura Secord, the British soldiers, the First Nations allies, along with ordinary citizens working together to protect Canada from American invasion. Thanks to them, we have an independent, strong, beautiful and free country.

The United States invaded, but the Canadians and their First Nations allies fought to stop them from taking over the colonies of Canada. These battle scenes represent what Canadians stand for, helping us to remember those who fought against the American invaders.  I will remember those who fought for Canada, and I'm really thankful.

I drew a gun because they used guns in the War of 1812. I drew a heart with a Canadian Flag in it because I'm proud to be Canadian.

The War of 1812 was a turning point in our nation's history. Without the bravery shown by countless individuals, Canada would be much different today.  Canada has a rich and colourful culture that is unique only to us.  It is important for us to remember our past and to acknowledge the impact it has made to our culture and to our everyday lives.

My 1812 poster shows famous people and famous sights.  Also, it shows Canadian and American stuff, but mostly Canadian stuff. Also, when you flip the poster upside down, you will see "V" for Victory!
