Harper Government Invests in Dream Wave Publishing
KELOWNA, British Colombia, July 17, 2012 - An investment from the Government of Canada will allow Dream Wave Publishing to carry out an outreach project to increase subscription sales of its magazine ZAMOOF! and improve its capacity to compete in the creative economy. This was announced today by Ron Cannan, Member of Parliament (Kelowna–Lake Country), on behalf of the Honourable James Moore, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages.
“Our Government received a strong mandate from Canadians to invest in publishers like Dream Wave Publishing,” said Minister Moore. “By supporting this organization, our Government is delivering on its commitment to strengthen our economy and support our arts, culture, and heritage.”
“The Canadian periodical industry contributes to this country’s quality of life and to the economic and cultural strength of our communities,” said Mr. Cannan. “The Government of Canada is proud to support an educational magazine that encourages reading and creativity, and empowers youth to make safe and healthy choices.”

The Government of Canada has provided funding of $25,000 through the Business Innovation component of the Canada Periodical Fund. The Fund invests in periodicals to help increase the overall health of the Canadian magazine and non-daily newspaper industries. The Business Innovation component encourages innovation to adapt to changing market conditions and contributes to the diversity of content sought by Canadian readers.
