Stéphane Guertin has always been passionate about traditional arts, starting with the violin, which he mastered at age 7. Since 2005, he has been telling his stories in Quebec, Ontario and Acadia, in addition to simultaneously working as an author, screenwriter, actor and stage director. He has been the artistic director of a multidisciplinary theatre company in Ottawa called Créations in vivo since 2007. In 2009, he received the Ontario Ministry of Culture award for his adaptation of traditional stories in the Légendes Boréales circus performance. The show also won the 2011 Coup de foudre scolaire, awarded by Ontario’s network of entertainment broadcasters. Also a writer/composer, his two albums for young listeners, C’est arrivé à Sainte-Utopie and Autour de la pluie, earned him A Trille Or award in 2013 and a nomination at the 2012 ADISQ Gala. His passion for stories has also been transposed into a TV series for young adults called Motel Monstre, which he created with his sidekicks from the improvisation group Improtéine.
