Canada has a long tradition of participation in international expositions.

Canada's presence at international expositions has been almost unbroken since 1851. Early exhibits featured furs, agricultural products and birch bark canoes. More modern, technologically-sophisticated exhibits have been immensely popular and met with repeated critical acclaim. Canada's pavilions at Brisbane (1988), Seville (1992), Taejon (1993) and Lisbon (1998) were among the top international pavilions. Canada hosted Expo '67 in Montreal and Expo '86 in Vancouver.
