In 2010-2011, the Publications Assistance Program (PAP) will be replaced by a new program, the Canada Periodical Fund (CPF). The CPF is set to be launched in April 2010, therefore, the PAP will not be accepting new applications after September 15, 2009.

The Government of Canada announces a new program for magazines and non-daily newspapers to take effect in 2010-2011. The existing programs will continue to operate until the new program is in place.

Public Consultations
Between January and April 2008, Department of Canadian Heritage
sought public input to help with a proposed redesign of the
Publications Assistance Program (PAP), which subsidizes mailing
costs of magazines and non-daily newspapers, and the Canada
Magazine Fund (CMF), which supports the creation of editorial
content and business development for the magazine industry. A
report summarizing the comments received during the consultation
